DESCRIPTION & REVIEWS

The ‘Wendy’ Beret Shaper

In 2015, we met Wendy, the designer of this super versatile shaper. It’s a bestseller for a reason… read on and see for yourself!

The ‘Wendy’ Beret Shaper is made of sweat wicking fabric with our super grippy no-slip headband attached. It pulls on your head beret style, with no Velcro, so you don’t even need to tie your hair back! When you wear our ‘Wendy’ Beret Shaper, the grippy velvet should feel rough when you stroke from your forehead towards the back of your head. Like our other shapers, it features a little hole on the inside that allows you to adjust how much volume you’d like – just pull some out or stuff some more in. So simple. So genius! You can also adjust where the volume sits on your head; slip it on and pile it up high, or shimmy it down low. The amount of space in the cap allows you to put the “pouf” wherever you want. If you wear it with an oomphtastic scrunchy, you will get it sticking out back more, and without, it will be closer to your head. The stuffing is super lightweight – you’ll barely know it’s there! The ‘Wendy’ will fit head circumferences up to 22″.

Check out our tutorial to see it in action!

Washing Instructions:

Like other garments, hand-washing and laying flat to dry will always extend the life of your shaper. But you can also wash with like colors in a washing machine! We always suggest doing so in a delicates bag, which will prevent the cap from snagging or becoming misshapen. Also, be sure to use a low heat-setting in a dryer, as too high a temperature can cause the stuffing to melt, potentially causing lumps. You may also remove the stuffing before washing which will shorten the length of time it takes to dry.

Please note that on rare occasions, our Black grippy velvet fabric’s dye has been known to bleed through onto light colored scarves. To prevent this from happening, you can try setting the dye with a vinegar rinse, for which you can find directions on the internet. It’s important to remember that laundering your Essential Tools renders them non-returnable according to our Return Policy.

The ‘Wendy’ will comfortably fit anyone with a head circumference (measured around the hairline where one wears her shaper) between 19″ and 26″.

This was my 3rd shaper and so far it’s my favorite. It’s so comfortable and because my hair is short, I enjoy the extra pouf. I want to try more multi-scarf wraps and I think the extra real estate will be very helpful!

  2. missionarymama5150 (verified owner)

I’ve had almost every shaper in wrapunzel from the signature to the Wendy and my Wendy is a game changer! I was a little worried I wouldn’tike it, because my head is small but round! The wendy works for all my twisting and braiding!

  3. Melissa M. (verified owner)

I love, love, LOVE this shaper! I have the uber pouf one (which I love for a more dramatic look), but wanted something smaller for more everyday use. The Wendy shaper was perfect for adding moderate volume that can easily transition from casual day looks to elegant evening looks. I’m so glad I purchased this!

  4. sonyaking03 (verified owner)

I really like the wendy shaper, its perfect for most all my scarfs, big enough to add life, small enough for most scarves

  5. shelleysmithwifey (verified owner)

This is my first ever shaper. I was going to get a smaller one but I eventually chose the Wendy because I can adjust the stuffing to suit the look I want. I have taken half of the stuffing out & I’m very happy with the way this looks. My wrap stays secure & it’s so comfortable too.

I will be buying a couple more of these next order. Thank you.

  6. lafatac13 (verified owner)

This is without doubt my favorite shaper. It’s great for all weather and scarves. Super easy to use and makes amazing wraps!!!

  7. nightwriter19 (verified owner)

After lots of help from the Wrapunzel Facebook community page I settled on the Wendy. I have a large head, 23.5 inches. So I was very nervous this wouldn’t fit me and cause me headaches which I am prone to.

Nope! It fits and no headaches. I am new to wrapping so I would suggest any first time Wendy owners go and watch the Wrapunzel tutorial done on it about seven years ago. It really really helped me ❤️

  8. Sarah Hostkoetter

This shaper is the one I wear 95% of the time. It is comfy! I have thick, slick, long hair and when I use a satin scrunchie and a weightless volumizer (I remove stuffing ), it is comfy all day, my hair stays put, no pain spots, no pulling NO SLIPPING! Thank you! Shalom!

  9. manusellwood

When I first started my headwrapping journey, the Wendy seemed like too much for me so I got the cloud 9, however I noticed that in most tutorial videos the ladies are wearing a Wendy, and I found that the cloud 9, while a great shaper, wasn’t quite right for my big head and so I finally decided to try the Wendy. I’m glad I did! It is so, so comfortable. It has so much more space to accommodate larger heads than the cloud 9, and more space to adjust where the volume sits, so you can use it for different looks. If you’re intimidated by the big volume (like I was at first), you can remove as much of the stuffing as you want! If you decide you want to try more volume later just save the stuffing so you can add it back in. I think the Wendy would also be more comfortable for people with lots of hair since it does have more space. I do find that it’s most comfortable farther forward & over my ears (which is nice in winter) whereas the cloud 9 is more comfortable a bit farther back & behind my ears. Interestingly, I noticed in other reviews people mention the Wendy sitting better farther back than the cloud 9 or “creeping” back through the day, which was the problem I had with the cloud 9 but so far not the Wendy, so I wonder if it really depends on the shape of your head more than anything. At any rate, the Wendy has definitely become my go-to! I love it!

  10. willsteph49

    Love!! Stays on.

  11. Tina Stephens

I absolutely love this shaper! I got it because I saw leorah’s video and loved how it looked on her. Well, I love how it looks on me. I wear it every single day. The only drawback I see is that it stretches out really quickly. I mean within a few weeks it was stretched out and therefore the edge around my face and ears like to bunch up when my scarves are tightened and sometimes they roll and I have to unroll them back to flat which makes wrapping me hair a little longer time wise. But it’s still the one I wear everyday. You can wear it higher or lower depending on how you do your own hair underneath. It does not move once your wrap is where you want it and have it. So no slippage of your scarves!! It’s not super heavy so I am able to use 2 or 3 scarves if I want for a wrap and it not be to much on my neck as far as weight goes. It is velvet and I you can adjust how much filling you want in it for how full of a look you want.

I want to give this like 4.5 stars again only because the edge stretches out way to quickly. If you want a fuller look that stands out, then for sure buy this shaper. I get compliments with people wanting to know how I get my wraps to look like they do. They think it’s my real hair under there. I can’t tell you how many women I’ve had touch my head and see that it’s not. So this shaper is a stand out for sure that will make you feel regal and grand!

  12. Rebekah Potts

I CANNOT believe I didn’t order this ages ago. It is wonderful! Wrapping is so much more secure and consistent! Thanks so much for this incredible tool

  13. Hannah Bottlemy

I absolutely love the Wendy shaper!!!!! It doesn’t slip off like I was afraid it would!! Also it gives nice volume!! I will definitely be ordering another one!!! It is definitely a game changer where ticheling is concerned!!

  14. monique99205

Game Changer! I am in love with the Pashmina wrap, unfortunately they slip constantly but this shaper with its velvet head band has done the trick! And it also has filled out the wrap beautifully without to much added weight. I did remove about 1/4 of the stuffing because my real hair is quite long (to my waist) and really thick. I think I need a couple more!

  15. annysirrl

AMAZING!!! It really adds volume and I love that you can adjust it too! That makes it great for people who don’t have a lot of hair! The velvet helps everything stay in place and its overall an amazing shaper!

  16. proudtruckerswife

I have several shapers. From tiny to well the Uber.
The wendy however is my new favorite. It isn’t so big that you need to recline the seat in the car. But not so small that you feel like there is nothing there.
It gives me the shape i want without any excess fabric (sikh. How we wrap)
It gives you more room to play with looks etc.
    Definitely recommend this one

  17. neednfcure

Another fabulous product. At first I didn’t care for this until I through it in the dry and it doesn’t slide anymore. This is the most versatile shaper. More volume add stuffing, less volume take stuffing out. Wear it high or low what ever your preference just know it will be your go to shaper so you might want to get more than one.

  18. Andrea Kinser

I got my Wendy in today (two days early!!) And I’m so stoked to be able to wear my Shimmery Scarf with it. It is so comfy and fits perfectly. I left all the stuffing in and didn’t really adjust it at all because I wanted to try it as is first. I have 2.5 inches of hair on my head all the way around and I was able to put the strands lowest in my neck underneath the shaper so they’re not peeking out. I ordered this is brown since my natural hair color is brown (with a lot of grey lol). I was able to get my desired effect with this shaper. Thank you Wrapunzel!!! I am in love!

  19. Sondra Ashley

POOF! Wendy was my first shaper, and I don’t think I could have made a better choice. The pull-on design makes it really easy to put on. I can seriously do it in 15 seconds. I have a lot of hair to cover, but it doesn’t make the shaper lumpy. I love that the amount of fluff can be adjusted. My only recommendation is, for Wendy 2.0, taper the velvet headband a little. I think it’s a tad too wide in the back.

  20. lisadbrown197789

I started with a smaller shaper but once I purchased my Wendy Shaper, that’s all I wear. It’s awesome and gives so much versatility to my wraps.

  21. Keaton

I’ve had the Signature Shaper for a few years, but I was craving a little more volume. I have very short hair, but I think the way the beret is built, that a ponytail or bun would pull the shaper backwards over the day. I find the tightness of the band just right, and the velvet of course keeps it from sliding on me. I don’t know my head circumference, but I’d say I have an average head. If you have a good bit of hair, I would either use a small flexible band like a clear plastic one to tie your hair (as opposed to an elastic or rubber band that will hold the hair stiffer), to keep it from being pushed back. The Wendy feels very comfortable, even moreso than the Signature, and has just the perfect amount of volume.

  22. kaiwaka00

This is the 4th volumiser I’ve bought from Wrapunzel. I have a Signature Shaper and a larger one which is I think a Classic Shaper, and a Cloud 9. I decided I needed something more comfortable that would do away with the headband and velcro and have more volume than the Cloud 9 so I splashed out on a Wendy.
Now in fairness to the Wendy I have a large head, about 23 inches hence my problem finding a shaper that fits right. I’ve found with the Wendy that no matter how much I play around with the stuffing it’s still too small and slides towards the back of my head and up from the nape. I have it on as I write this and it has already slid over 2 inches and still on the move. I suppose I could use it with the headband but that defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place. . I’m also prone to headaches due to wrapping so it seems I’m still on the search for the best option.
But on the bright side I must say the quality is great and I would highly recommend this for those with smaller heads. Another thing, due to the headband being the same width all round it does seem to sit higher on the head than the Cloud 9 which gives a different look and may contribute to the slipping issue.
All is not lost though, as I feel my way forward to finding the perfect shaper for my big noggin may be the Uber Pouf.
Many thanks Wrapunzel for always working on perfecting and broadening the range of products you offer us.

  23. chrissy garcias

I am really blessed and excited to own this Wendy. I love the volume and look of it after I wrap. Super comfortable and lightweight. My only complaint is how loose it is on my head. I don’t have a small head or a large one either but somehow this slips. I received this yesterday and I’m having to clip it on with a few bobby pins. Nevertheless, don’t let my complaint keep you from owning your own. It truly is an amazing volumizer.
On a side note: in my personal opinion, I think this poof is a great balance in size. Not too big and definitely not small. 🙂

  24. mjsiun0731

When I first started out I had bought the kallah kit (which I loved) and with that came the cloud 9. I love that shaper but it didn’t love me. I have hair down to my hips so when I put it into a messy bun it would be a hassle to get in perfectly and then because the fluff is flush against your head it would slowly start pulling it back to where I had to readjust after an hr or 2. Now this is also cause I like to cover my ears a bit more so if you like to wrap behind your ears this might work. I was nervous about the Wendy because I didn’t want a huge turban look. I decided to try it out and I’m so happy I did. It has so much room for all my hair and doesn’t slip back. The band also doesn’t give me a headache like the cloud 9. I think my head was just a bit too big for the cloud 9. Normally by the end of the day I’d be rushing to get home and just throw my head wrap at the couch lol…. Not with the Wendy. I wore it all day and never felt any pressure. I just am so happy this doesn’t force me to battle with my hair. You can adjust the poof size to make it look a lot smaller if you wanted to but I found it easy to just tame it with the scarves or shape it as I’m wrapping. Finally no more headaches.

  25. vickysue216

I was hesitant about getting the Wendy because I thought it would be too much poof for me. I finally decided to go ahead and give it a try. Today, I received my Wendy (a day earlier than the expected delivery date) and couldn’t wait to try it. I am so happy I got this shaper. It’s lightweight, comfortable and so easy to maneuver the stuffing to get the bun where you want. I started with the signature shaper, then got the ultimate shaper. While I still like those, I really think the Wendy is my new favorite. Thanks Wrapunzel ladies!

  26. dresdendoll08

Ladies if u r not sure of the Wendy, I will tell u now Don’t be!!! I wasted a lot of money buying shapers because I wasn’t sure if Wrapunzle actually had the best, but turns out they do. Whatever sentrist made the Wendy did one hell of a job. It won’t fall off your head, it’s great for high n low looks n u can even take out the some of the stuffing if u would like just very little volume. I wouldn’t say the shaper is too big r small, I say it’s just right n perfect. I can’t stop trying it on every second because it feels so comfortable on my head. Yes Wrapunzel is the best place to get a great shaper, n I look forward to getting my other shapers from Wrapunzel as well. Pam

I just bought my second Wendy in the “Blonde” shade, making this my..erm.. 6th Wendy shaper! As I stated in the review I left when I bought my previous Wendy, back in June (or was it July?) of last year, I wear a lot of single scarf wraps in more breathable, sometimes quite sheer materials (think New York Brights scarves, for example) and, because I live in a area of the United States that has extremely hot summers, having shapers in all the shades available lets me always have a clean one at hand while another is drying after being hand-washed.
I LOVE these shapers! Thank you so much for offering them, Wrapunzel ♥

  28. Teresalyn23 (verified owner)

I got my Wendy in the mail today and I am wearing it now. I have a all in one (head band and shaper) that fits my head. I love it. I have a larger head (23″) and I have been wearing the classic which is nice but I have to wear a headband and then the shaper and sometimes I just want it to be easier. Now it is. I had to unstuff it a bit but it fits over my bun and it gives me a nice shape. I had a cloud 9 that was almost completely unstuffed that I gave away to a friend. She looks fabulous so it wasn’t a waste. It seemed to pull my hair and gave me head aches. It just wasn’t big enough.

  29. laurenperry_84 (verified owner)

The Wendy is my go to shaper – it’s so versatile that you can use it for so many styles, from Turbans, to Low Buns and High Buns. It’s fantastic!

  30. b72denes (verified owner)

Forgot to add a picture. This is Wendy with a Rainy Day Scarf -Teal and a pin given for Black Friday shopping. Thank you, Wrapunzel!!

  31. b72denes (verified owner)

This is truly a genius invention! My new favorite, of course. There was no need to “tame” it, as I was imagining. Super easy to wear it and comfortable, also it doesn’t look ridiculously big.

  32. robynselk (verified owner)

I have a round face and find that the Wendy gives me the perfect amount of fullness without accentuating my round face. I love that there is no velcro and that it is stretchy enough to not give me a headache. Fantastic shaper I will be buying another one.

  33. nurhayathxcy (verified owner)

I love the Wendy so much I wear the same shaper everyday and I really need to get another 2 or even 3 more ? I loveee loveee that the shape is adjustable just take out/add the stuffing according to your needs but I would like to request the Wrapunzel team to make the cap wider as in the same like the Uber Pouf one, it tapers at the bottom. I thought of buying the Uber Pouf but the size of it is a bit intimidating ? I love the Wendy but I hope in the future we will have the options in terms of the cap width.

  34. Nelsa (verified owner)

I bought the Wendy and it is truly amazing, it brings your head wrapping experience to life. LOVE,LOVE,LOVE the Wendy volumizer.

  35. Grace (Gabrielle) (verified owner)

On Friday, I received my 5th (yes, I know… 🙂 ) Wendy shaper, this one in the new “blonde” color. This means that now I have white, black, dark brown, nude, and this blonde. Why so many? Well, I live in a VERY hot climate and so, I only wrap with single scarves that during those scorching summer months are also made from more breathable/sheer materials (think New York Brights etc…) and having a variety of shaper colors really help with making the wraps look so much better. It also really helps to have those extra shapers, since I end up hand washing them due to sweat, and having so many at hand (especially the nude and blonde, which I use the most in summer) lets me always have a clean one available.
Thank you SO much for providing these new colors!

  36. YahwehsDaughter91 (verified owner)

Received my Wendy yesterday I was so happy it arrived. When I tried it on I notice it’s not tight due to me having a small head I didn’t want it to be slipping off my head. So at first I didn’t really like how it sat on my head alone due to my small head so after I put a scarf on top I then noticed it fits nicely and stays on my head witout falling off and I can even make my head covering a little tighter so it can feel more securely in place.

  37. Jessica-heathfield (verified owner)

Absolutely in love with this shaper! It stays on my big ol’ head perfectly, it is extremely secure. It’s so versatile which is so great, it saves me from having multiple shapers. The extra volume is incredible and does wonders for me as I have very thin hair but it is also extremely lightweight. I’m in Australia and the shipping was very fast. I’m so impressed! Also loved the little hand written “Enjoy <3" on the receipt, it was a lovely and personable touch. I was having a very rough day when it arrived and you put a very big smile on my face. I honestly can't fault this shaper! I love you beautiful ladies, thank you so much!! Shalom and abundant blessings!

  38. bijouxdejais

I have followed the Wrapunzel ladies since the days of the earliest YouTube wrap tutorials, and I am so happy and proud of you for sharing the joy and beauty of wrapping. I made my first purchase the Wendy volumizer, and it is EVERYTHING. The shape is versatile and beautiful, the volumizer itself is light, the band definitely does not slip and it’s well constructed. Because I wear wraps on an almost daily basis, I may be purchasing other volumizing styles as well. I am so thrilled to have this as part of my wrap wardrobe. Nice job, ladies.

  39. mythreelittlekitties (verified owner)

I didn’t think it would fit. I have thick wavy waist length hair that I wear in bun under my scarves and my head is NOT small either! I have velvet headbands size XL that I wear all the time without a shaper. I do have a few shapers that tie but I find them very warm and don’t wear them anymore. I like the look of a little volume rather than va-va-volume! I thought I would take a chance on Wendy. When I first tried it on over my bun it was hilarious. My head looked like a black mushroom. The Wendy was perched ON my bun and the velvet band was nowhere near my hairline. Then I started pulling out some stuffing……..and more stuffing….and more stuffing. I adjusted the remaining stuffing so it was like a doughnut inside the cap. The doughnut “hole” was where my bun would be. I tried the Wendy on again……….IT FIT!!!!! So Happy! It is very comfortable and not too hot. I don’t wear it everyday, just on special days when I dress up a bit. It adds a little something….
I do have a request……please, please and thank you…..could we get the Wendy in nude/beige/tan color ? Please? I think it is just available in black and white now. I read in one of the reviews that someone has a tan Wendy that they bought from Wendy. I’d buy at least two and I might start wearing them everyday! Sorry if I sound a bit needy…….but it would really great to have a tan Wendy! Thank you to everyone at Wrapunzel!

    • Naomi Rose Herzog

Just wanted to let you know that we *are* working on making these in a blond/tan color – stay tuned!!! 🙂

  40. Tahirah Roe (verified owner)

At first I thought the Wendy would be to big, but then I put it on. Its super soft and so light weight. It took a little manipulation to get the shape I wanted just like with any shaper. The Wendy is my new go to shaper. I feel like Nefertiti.

  41. Grace (Gabrielle) (verified owner)

I just received my first “Wendy” in the white color from you this afternoon (I have 2 in other colors that I ordered from Wendy herself), along with other items I ordered. It has a soft, snug, yet stretchy and incredibly comfortable velvet headband part, and a TON of stuffing! After I took some out to leave the usual 2/3 full ratio that I find perfect for me, I tried it on and…*happy sigh* perfect! Thank you so much, Wrapunzel for also making the “Wendy” available in you site. I’m currently the proud owner of 3 Signature Shapers (black, white, and one with the tan headband -my first shaper ever), and 3 “Wendy” Shapers (dark brown, nude, and now white). It might seem like a lot of shapers, but I am a daily wrapper and these have proven to be indispensable.

  42. Amber Weaver (verified owner)

Love my Wendy !!! It has held up to all kinds of activity. The volume is totally arrangeable. It suits my 21 and a half inch hair line and moderately large amount of hair very well. My favorite of 3 Wrapunzel shapers so far !

  43. Aicha Doumbia (verified owner)

Just received my Wendy yesterday, this may be the absolute best volumizer I have ever used. The first thing I noticed was the no slip headband. I have a pretty small head. no headband has ever been “no slip” on me. but this didn’t go anywhere. Even having to get it place was not easy to move. Also being that I have a pixie and have been learning how to wrap on a small head with no pixie I was so frustrated… I had watched hundred of tutorials and they all made it look so easy. I wasn’t having that luck. Having this with all the volume, made my life sooooo much easier. Wearing it to work today, was great its light weight, stylish, and makes all the difference in getting the perfect turban, tischel, hijab, head wrap what ever suits you. I also bought to ultimate shaper but this one, this one is by far the best. Im in love…. I will definitely be trying other products from Wrapunzel after the quality of these. Thank you so much ladies!!! XOXOXOXO

  44. Delilah Miller (verified owner)

What can I say that hasn’t been said already? This a wonderful shaper. Easy, lightweight, gives great shape, and AMAZING volume.

  45. Barbara Gregg (verified owner)

If you’re trying to get in touch with your inner queen, Wendy is your gal! Super easy to pull on and no velcro bumps or bulky seams to cause a tension headache. The height and profile you can achieve with Wendy is incredible. If you want something more subtle, just tug out a bit of the stuffing through the reinforced hole. Love my Wendy.

  46. Teresa Youngblood (verified owner)

I own one shaper, and this is it. It does everything I’d want a shaper to do, but is very lightweight–I can hardly feel it at all–which allows me to avoid the tension headaches that can be triggered by even the weight of a bun donut. The fiberfill stuffing has a bit of a learning curve to it; each person has to figure out how to work with their own volume under the stuffing, how to position the stuffing in the shaper when it’s less than full, etc., but the flip side of that is that it’s infinitely customizable! I have been able to get a low-bun effect with this shaper by extending it with a velvet headband at the top (and then ovelapping the velvet headband and the Wendy’s sewn-in band at the nape of the neck). As I said, one shaper that does everything!

  47. hermioneg1748

This is my first and only shaper, and I think it’s excellent! I have it in white, and find it extremely versatile and comfortable! If I pull it down farther over my ears, it doesn’t hurt, and I can adjust the volume by removing stuffing and placing it wherever I want on my head. In the photo, I’m wearing it with about a fourth of the stuffing, and I still get a nice shape. It’s great that it has the attached velvet headband, and no Velcro, so you’re set to go really quickly and easily! It’s machine wash and dryable ( if you remove the stuffing), so any stretching out or staining can quickly be remedied. If you get the velvet headband wet in the summer, it’ll keep you cool as well! Highly recommend. The only thing that stops it from a 5-star rating is that, despite its versatility in volume, it will not create every shape in existence…which is what the other shapers are for!

  48. Sarah Ostapowicz (verified owner)

I started with the Signature and Classic, and eventually moved up to a Wendy. There are pros and cons here. First, not having to have any velcro on my head was a big reason I wanted it. It is SO soft and SO comfortable. Second, the adjustable stuffing was very alluring. I had a hunch that fully stuffed would look crazy on me (I already have a large head), and I was right, so taking out about 1/3-1/2 of the stuffing really helped. It was nice having more volume to work with sometimes too.

But…the stuffing very quickly became lumpy in it. I replaced it easily enough (I happen to make stuffed animals, so I have large amounts of stuffing around), but it was a nuisance needing to fix it so soon into my owning it. And then, there’s the issue of the shape of the Wendy. I knew going into buying it had that “chef’s hat” look to it. And once you wrap, it does help tame it down some, but I never could seem to get the exact shape I wanted. It just didn’t feel as flattering as it could.

I would say that now that the Cloud 9 shaper is here, I probably wouldn’t purchase a Wendy again. But, I won’t deny that it is a good shaper, and it may be just the look that someone wants. If that’s the case, then be assured it’s a quality product.

The Wendy is amazing! I have scalp psoriasis which is causing some hair loss, and my wigs have become too irritating on my scalp. It was so light on my head and didn’t irritate my scalp at all. I wore this all day in the Texas heat, running around town with the truck windows down and it stayed quite firmly on my big old head! I’m super pleased! I’d also like to add that I’m completely new to wrapping, I’ve never tied a tichel before (I’ve always worn wigs in the past) but I had no problems tying a scarf around it! No tichel tantrums here! I’m so in love with how lightweight and soft it is! I’ve pretty much decided that I’m sticking my wigs on the shelf and going to be wearing tichels full time now, all thanks to the Wendy! A huge Thank You to the lovely ladies at Wrapunzel! I’m definitely going to be a repeat customer!

When I first saw the Wendy I thought “no way I’ll ever wear something like that” but after following the fan group page for a few weeks and hearing what everyone said about it I decided to purchase a Wendy! I really like mine. The stuffing makes it look every bit as huge as you would think from the pictures but it’s totally adjustable. I was worried whether or not its medium large size headband would fit my extra large head ( measuring at 21 and a half inches.) It was snug at first but stretched comfortably within a week. I am super happy about the fact that it does not have any Velcro! I may be interested in other papers that do not have Velcro and think that a velvet headband with no velcro would be great! Someone mentioned the sides bulging out too far. Everything is adjustable . I hollowed out the bottom of mine for my bun and leave a slight edge of stuffing on both sides to even it out. It all works! The only thing I would change about my Wendy would be I would make the whole to remove the stuffing a tiny bit larger. It’s a pinch for me to get my fingers and the stuffing in and out.

I love my new volumizer. I am new to head covering and this makes me look like I have super awesome hair underneath. It also keeps the tichel in place and ain don’t have to worry about readjusting. The best thing is I can take out some stuffing if I want to get rid of some umph. I would absolutely recommend it!

  52. Diane Ullman

I have mixed feelings about the Wendy but I also have a fantastic outcome. I found the Wendy to be so huge as to look ridiculous on me. The “bun” sat firmly on the top of my head like a chef’s hat and no effort on my part could push it lower. Over time I bought two of them, one black and one white, so the problem was frustrating. I loved this shaper because the Wendy is so light and soft that you hardly know it’s there. It also smelled very nice.

On advice from Wrapunzel I partially unstuffed it with little improvement. I continued to pull out the fiberfill stuffing and finally settled with about 1/3 full. The next problem I had was that the white Wendy was lumpy. I didn’t have this problem to such a degree with the black one. I pulled the stuffing out, shredded it, and put it back with no luck. Next I replaced the stuffing entirely but the problem persisted. I finally emptied it out and filled it with soft pieces of foam, which I sewed down tight. I wore it that way very satisfactorily for a long time until it finally wore out. The material holding the stuffing began to weaken and split. Since many Wrapunzelistas keep theirs for years I’m supposing this hot, damp climate was too hard on the fabric. I should add that even though my white Wendy is a near total loss, my black Wendy is still going strong with no signs of wear.

Well, the white Wendy “bun” might be unwearable, but the velvet part was still perfectly fine. Rather than waste it I cut off the pouf off and discovered that I now had the very best velvet headband imaginable. It’s light, soft, wide enough to really grip, and there’s no velcro to catch in my hair. Therefore, I’m going to suggest that Wrapunzel keep making Wendys since so many people love them, but to introduce Wendy headbands (Wendybands?) as well. If your Wendy wears out do try to save the band.

That’s certainly a lovely shaper, but doesn’t seem to fit on big heads. I couldn’t fit it on my head, so I unstuffed it, and unstuffed it.. until I had a no-slip cap without volume. Then, and only then, I am able to fit it on my head. I may give it away to someone who is able to actually use it.

Hi! So sorry to hear the shaper didn’t work for you! If it has only been tried on and is still in unworn condition, we’d be happy to take it as a return. You can email us at [email protected] and the returns policy is available at wrapunzel.com/policies

i bought the black wendy. i find that the black dye from around the band smears onto the scarves. I washed the wendy thinking it would wash out the extra dye but that didn’t work. I haven’t washed the scarves yet to see if the dye washes out, but i hate to do this each time i use the volumizer. Is there a way to get the extra dye out?

    • Andrea

We’re so sorry to hear this!! Try washing it in vinegar which really sets the dye. If it continues to be a problem please write to us at [email protected] and we’ll figure out a way to reimburse you or send you another one because you may have gotten one that somehow has extra dye!

  55. Elisheva

I’ve had this for a year or so and there are a lot of good things about the Wendy. Just two issues: I wish it didn’t pouf out to the sides so much. I prefer having the volume on the back of my head; and the stuffing is lumpy no matter what I do. I calm it as best I can, but it’s a bit annoying to try to get it all in the right places. I’m ordering another one, so obviously these are not deal breakers. Maybe future models will change a little? Oh, and it would be great if you sold a pack of stuffing separately. Tnx!

    • Andrea

We totally hear you! It’s totally possible to fix! Here is a tutorial on how to change the volume to be at the back of your head, and make sure to play with the stuffing like you would with a pillow to keep it un-lumpy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y41689bk7V4&t=735s

I bought the Wendy a few months ago and I instantly fell in love with it! I would wear it 3-4 times a week and it was so very versatlle. I dont know if I did something wrong (probably, knowing myself?) but I had to toss it. The velvet headband had stitching through it in a pattern and it all came out. Not all at once, but over the course of a couple weeks it kept having strings hanging off, and I’d knot them then I’d take it off and find more and knot those and cut off the long parts. Eventually so much came out the headband got wonky and uncomfortable and, well that was the end of my friend Wendy. I dont know what constitutes a head too big for the Wendy but mine measures just at 19″ so maybe that was the issue. I have t be reAlly honest and say that I loved it so much and miss it so much that I’m giving serious thought to purchasing another one. Who knows maybe the thread was weak on that particular spool or something. I have never used a better more comfortable shaper and I’m encouraging all my friends and family members who wrap to buy one. I have been so pleased with everything I’ve received as gifts and purchases for myself through wrapunzel and fully trust everything they sell. It’s amazing quality and the women seem great too. I’m willing to bet that it is an anomaly to have things go wrong with anything bought here.

    • Andrea

Oh no! That’s not supposed to happen! Maybe you got a defective one – PLEASE email us at [email protected] and we can work something out!

  57. Amanda (verified owner)

I was very hesitant to buy this at first, mostly because of the price. However, I am so glad I got it. I love shapers that don’t require a separate headband or have velcro or ties. This is a great size and shape, and the option to decrease/increase the volume is terrific! My favorite aspect is that it had just the right amount of band to hold securely, but doesn’t have to sit over your ears to feel like it isn’t going to fall off. It’s super lightweight and doesn’t keep your head uncomfortably warm (let’s leave that to our scarves). It’s versatile – check out the tutorials for how to adjust the positioning. I’ve also worn very high crown styles (think Egyptian Pharoah) with a super long scarf to build up the volume and this is the perfect base for doing so. I highly recommend this shaper to anyone looking for versatility – especially if you want the possibility to go a bit bolder than normal.

  58. Doris Lipsky

Having thin hair, this shaper is fantastic. So many people have commented on how great my scarves look & it makes it look like I have really a lot of hair!

  59. Samantha (verified owner)

I don’t always like to go big with my wrap, but when I do the Wendy is the way to go!
My favorite part about the Wendy is the ability to adjust it to being just right by either removing or adding even more stuffing.
I work in a very diverse place and ever since I started wrapping I’ve had more conversations with the traditional African and Muslim populations of my area. When I met one of these traditional African woman she was interested in my wrap, and myself in hers. Without the Wendy I would not have been able to have her test her style on me which was a fun learning experience as well as a nice cultural exchange.
If you have no hair or very short hair, and want to pull of a fancy African style turban, this is your shaper. This is also the perfect shaper for making a bold statement and drawing even more attention to your wrap.

  60. DAndra Coleman (verified owner)

I love this shaper. I was having such a horrible problem with slippage before and now I don’t. Much needed tool!!

  61. Monica

This volymizer is a life saver for people that don’t have lots of hair to make a thick bun!!! 🙂 I love how natural and good it looks under a scarf and I definitely recommend it!!!

  62. Joan Fisher (verified owner)

This is the first volumizer that I have tried that has worked for me. The no slip headband was way too tight for me, but the Wendy fits perfectly. I love that you can shift the fill around and remove some. I took about 90 percent out, since I like a more realistic for me profile. I wear wigs, but they can be very uncomfortable and hot, especially in the summer. This volumizer gives me a quick, cool and attractive way to get myself ready for the day. The shape of it disappears once you put a scarf on and it just looks like you have a volume of hair under the scarf. And if I want, I can add more fill to get more of a large bun look. I will get one in black for the winter. It will help keep me warm in the cold Canadian winter and looking good!

Hello, I have had my wendy for about 2 months now and i wear it 6 out of 7 days. If you have never had a shaper/volumizer and want to wrap, you absolutely HAVE to have one! This is the first shaper that I have ever had and it has made the difference between your hair staying covered all day vs your scarves slipping right off your head! I spent a good 2 weeks deciding on what shaper to buy and finally landed on this one. Now I will say that my experiences with the Wendy have not been perfect. And that is not at the fault of the developer or Wrapunzel. I have a BIG head, 22″ circumference to be exact. And I have noticed that wearing it everyday, in Texas heat, no less, it stretches out. I have found, through watching the Wendy tutorial, (which is an amazing place, by the way) that you can wash it. And if you dry it, on low, it helps to make it shrink back into place. This has worked wonders for me! I have been washing it about every 1 to 2 weeks. So, if you are on the fence about what shaper to get, this one is an awesome one to get!

I seem to be a weirdo freak with an itsy bitsy head. Unfortunately, The Wendy slipped right off. When I did manage to get it to stay, it pulled my hair painfully and it jiggled so much that I couldn’t move my head at all without the whole thing toppling off. But I am only mildly discouraged. I think I might have to take my sewing machine to it and either add velcro, or just add seams. This will require more thinking on my part. But once I get it to fit my head, I am confident that it will be wonderful.

  66. Nita (verified owner)

I was worried this would be too big for my little head, and it was. However, I just put a non slip head band under it and it works like a charm. That even lets me sit the Wendy farther back on my head. I was afraid to use it at first due to the size but once I adjusted the stuffing it actually looks amazing and has become my favourite shaper 🙂

  67. Keri

I absolutely love this. I have a very round head and was finding most wraps difficult. At first i thought it may be too tight but its not! I did a nice reagal wrap for the first time today.

  68. Renee

I am going to LOVE this shaper! I love what it does for a square scarf! And I love that I don’t need the usual equipment (hair tie, head band, chignon donut, undercap w/volumizer).

The no slip band even holds a silk square in place without slipping.

  69. Mikayla Zagoria-Moffet

I absolutely love my Wendy. I did have to remove a *tiny* bit of the stuffing when I first got it, for day to day use, but I love the fact that it’s “adjustable” and that it creates such an elegant shape. It seriously makes wrapping my scarves so much easier and eliminates the headaches I’d sometimes get with velvet headbands (sometimes I’d put them on too tight). Here is a picture meant to showcase the shape of the Wendy (minus, maybe, a handful of stuffing), covered with a solid red pashmina.

  70. serabobera

This is my first shaper and I absolutely love it. It is so lightweight, comfortable, it stays well, and it keeps cool under scarves. You can remove or add stuffing to adjust the size and you can also move the stuffing up or down to create different shapes. If you only buy one volumizer, get this one.

  71. mirja.haukisaari

If the velvet band was a gamechanger and the shaper even better, the Wendy hit the jackpot! No velcro is better for me, and the adjustable amount of stuffing makes this a dream to wear.

  72. Justine Lustig

Wendy wendy wendy wendy. The best thing ever. I have a small head and was worried it would be too big but it’s magic. It fits. I have it about 5/8 full and I like having the volume a bit higher, but you can smoosh it to wherever you want it. Magic magic magic.

  73. Asta (verified owner)

So fast delivery, I can’t believe it! 🙂 Volumizer is amazing too. Little tight, but I think it will loose in time a little. Still so soft and comfy in my head. I also got no-slip headband and scrunchys. Very good quality in all of them. I have just good words about Wrapunzel over all. Thank you!

  74. Abby

Absolutely THE BEST shaper money can buy. I’ve been through many varieties of shapers – this one takes the cake! I suffer from migraines, and this shaper does not aggravate my head at all. Furthermore, it’s malleable, soft, breathable, and extremely durable (it has survived the demands of my two children and physically-intensive job)! THANK YOU, Wrapunzel, for making this brilliant product available!

  75. DS (verified owner)

Dear Wendy, whoever you are, your product is sheer brilliance. For the first time since getting married I am enjoying wearing tichels. I always loved the look of awesome tichel wraps but was too intimidated to try it, especially since I am headache prone. But it was easy to wrap my tichel with the Wendy and it’s been sitting comfortably all day without my tichel slipping an inch. I love that it’s a nonslip headbach, volumizer, and shaper all in one , since the thought of too many “accessories” is daunting. Note that it comes with a TON of stuffing, I took out almost all of it and still had a hefty wrap! Keep up the great work and THANKS for enhancing my observance of Kisui Rosh!

  76. Elizabeth

So wonderful! This was the first tichel accessory I’ve purchased and it was worth every penny. It’s light as a feather, very cool, and so easy to use! The non-slip band is MAGICAL, my double-scarf tie didn’t budge an INCH after I put it on over this! I have a large head, and this fit me perfectly well – i’m looking forward to playing with the amount of pouf in it. VERY WORTH IT.

  77. Norma Saez

Absolutely amazing. I couldn’t get my tichels (2 at a time) to not slip down the back of my head. And that was because I didn’t have enough volume for them to sit on. Wella here came the Volumizing Beret the best invention ever. Now I am so confident when I am wearing 2 or more tichels that I want to show the beautiful folds, designs and colors and not worry that they will slip down the back of my head. Truly made life so much easier. And I love the fact that you can control the amount of volume by taking out some of the stuffing or shaping it how you want. Believe it or not you can go really poofy up hi or you can go low. Just mold it with your hands. There is a video you should watch. Ohhh!!! I so Happy

  78. miccolli8

Life changer thank you so much I didn’t think I could get my wrap to look the way I wanted it to and make it easier to for someone with limited arm use and muscle pain what a blessing

  79. Rebecca

Love it! Fits great! Very lightweight! I think every wrapper should have one!!!!

  80. emolovesblack28

The black also doubles as an opaque snood when you take the stuffing out. I came back to try and get another one, this time in white. I can’t wear a scarf without it anymore (although I haven’t tried the velvet headbands yet, this was my first purchase), and I love that the volume is completely adjustable. Please bring this back.

  81. hock145

I love the Wendy. Lots of volume, and tichels don’t slip.

  82. daughterofyah99

the idea behind this shaper is very good, my only problem being that it runs a little small. I wore it twice and both times it gave me a pressure headache. if this came in larger sizes, I would definitely get one and wear it all the time!

  83. Rachel S

I was leery of trying any of the volumizers for so long, then The Wendy appeared! I thought I would give it a try because I absolutely loved the idea of not having to tie another thing.
I twist my hair up into a bun and just slide it on! No scrunchie, no hair bands, easy peasy. I love it!

  84. sarah

I LOVE the Wendy! I was agonizing over getting a large or small volumizer and this has both in one! I have removed most of the stuffing from mine and it’s still plenty of volume. I also love that there is no Velcro to snag my scarves.

  85. Adina

This is the most comfortable shaper i own. Its the middle of summer for me and i thought i would have to go volumeless to cope with the hot weather. I find the wendy has meant i can continue to wear my favourite tichels without feeljng hot and bothered. Its easy to use and i love being able to adjust the volume.

  86. Sharhonda Jackson

My Wendy is my best “friendy”. I don’t think I have gone a day without wearing my Wendy since I got it. I absolutely LOVE IT. Don’t let the “poof” put you out. It is quite easy to maneuver to get the look you want and you can always take some out or even add more if you like. I am going to buy another one as soon as the black ones are back in stock. Amazing volumizer!

  87. HerzogAdmin

Hi! So sorry the size is causing issues for you! Are you wearing it over your ears? Wearing it behind the ears will give you a little more room, and usually ladies up to an XL no-slip headband size are fine wearing it that way. But of course everyone is different and we want you to be comfortable! Please send us an email at [email protected] – we’d be happy to take it as a return!

  88. Elisheva

This is something like the 15th shaper I’ve had and it is by far the best. I have a very large head and often have a problem with the shaper not being deep enough so that my wrap would s-l-o-w-y work its way back during the day. I use the classic shaper + headband a lot, and that’s better–but it’s a lot of “potchying” and a little heavy in the Summer.
The Wendy is the shaper of my dreams! It doesn’t move at all once it’s on, and it’s light as air! It even may have a little too much volume for me. I haven’t decided yet, but I love that I can just take stuffing out and put it back in until I’m happy.
AND the price can’t be beat!!!!
I’d give this 20 stars if I could!

I received this item yesterday in the mail. OH MY GOODNESS, it is beautiful. Here is my review….APPEARANCE…I ordered the black and the item is a large puff, it is larger than the other volumizers but do not let that frighten you….the item has the non slip band already attached and their is no strings to tie or Velcro in the back……SIZE…I have a larger head so for ME, when I placed this item on my head as if I was putting on a hat, I could tell I was stretching the item too much….don’t despair LADIES….there is an answer to this situation. If you have a larger head like me, All I did was wear my normal no slip headband around my edges, then I place this item in the middle of my head, so I don’t stretch this item trying to make it fit my entire head.
Yes this works, then you put on your scarf as normal. …FULLNESS…Make sure you watch the video so you can see how to push the stuffing down with your hands if it is too full for you…TAKING OUT STUFFING…yes, there is a hole on the inside for those who want to add or remove stuffing, I did not remove any or add any stuffing, I found it perfect as is….I think this might be my new favorite, I quickly put on a scarf and it really looked nice, I now have all three volumizers and it is nice to have the variety…PRICE…my favorite phrase is cost per wear. This item is 23.00, which is a very good price, if you wear it 4 times a month for a year – 48 times, divide that by 23.00 so you are paying 47 cents per wear, and most of us will have this item for years so if you even wore this item for 2 years you pay around 24 cents per wear. An item that you will wear over and over again, is well worth the cost….THANKS… I am so thankful for this site, the wrapunzel ladies have changed my life. I feel confident in my scarves and turbans and I am comfortable and confident in the workplace.

  90. Ivanna

I love mine! I’m new to wrapping and had been doing without a shaper for months now. I wasn’t sure which one was right for me. Wrapunzel started offering this one and I’m so glad I decided to get it. It is so light and feels really comfortable on. The sewn in velvet headband I find even more comfortable than the velcro ones sold separately. The pouf is easy to remove or replace. It does require some “shimmying” to get the pouf exactly where you want it around your own bun/hair, or up high or low based on your preference. However, the versatility is really worth it. I like a modest amount of volume, but this could work even for someone that wanted extreme volume.

  91. Lucia

I am new to wrapping and after watching a few videos of Wrapunzel Ladies, I ordered the Beret Voluminazer from France. I already used it and it is great! A real essential tool! It is very light and my wrapping looks great with it underneath (although I am still learning thanks to the videos 🙂 In addition, once you wrap the tichel, it stays in its place without any problem, no matter how active you are.
A few days after I ordered it, my wendy beret volumizer arrived at my home in France without any problem.
    Excellent service! Bravo Wrapunzel!

  92. Rebecca

I love my Wendy! My hair is very short and I love that I can achieve that beautiful full bun look so quickly and with no fuss. Wrapping is so much easier now that I have more surface area to work with; I can’t wait to purchase more 2in1’s and some sashes to try more layered looks. The only possible flaw I can find is that it seems a bit tight on me, but I do have a large head and I’m sure the velvet will stretch a bit with daily wear.

  93. HerzogAdmin

Hi Rachael! Please email us at [email protected] so we can refund you! The Wendys should be very durable and out of the hundreds we’ve sold, we’ve never heard of one breaking before – even from ladies who also wear an XL velvet headband. Likely something was a bit off with the construction of yours, and we’d like to make sure you get your money back!

  94. Eliesa

I have been covering my hair all my life. Unfortunately, the last few years my health has caused my hair to become very thin. I have tried so many volumizers but they were not comfortable and just never looked natural. The change in the way my head covers would look was simply depressing. This volumizer has made SUCH a difference. I can wrap my head the way I used to with a comfortable and natural look. No more being ashamed to go out, I feel like I have my old self back. Thank you SOooo much for this item.

  95. Catie Rae

I personally bought one of these and wear it often. They are so light you don’t feel wished down. They are not hot. I wore in summer in Alabama. It’s very hot here. You will love it.

  96. Lesli Moser

When I was new to wrapping my hair, I went through MANY volumizers trying to find that right one…. The one that feels like I am not wearing anything…. the one that feels cool in the TEXAS HEAT….. the one that gives me more vavoom when I want it and less when I don’t…. Well… THIS IS IT! I have not worn ANYTHING else since my “Wendy”. You may want to order a couple as I wrap daily…. while one is drying I am confident wearing my next one and have one waiting in the closet “just in case”. Wendy, WELL DONE! This. Is. It! XOXOXO

  97. Rachael

Unfortunately, this broke the first time I tried it on :(. I have a large head I guess. I also purchased the shaper that ties in the back as well as an XL band and those are working great. If you have a large head, don’t get the Wendy! I would love to see this shaper have size options in the future.

  98. Susie Rosenberg

This volumizer CUTS DOWN ON TICHEL TANTRUMS!!!! For someone like me—–not the most patient person in the world, a little awkward with the hands—–this volumizer is a wonder. It gives enough surface area to wrap around, yet is so flexible it takes the shape you give it with how you pull your scarf and how you shape it with your hands. THIS IS A FABULOUS BEGINNER VOLUMIZER!!!!!! It’s also very lightweight and good for sensitive heads. No headaches!
